SAGE Programs
The following are some of the programs that SAGE supports.
To make a reservation for an upcoming event,
please visit our activities Calendar.
Monthly Social
Events:
Each month, a social event is presented for the entire membership and guests
that encompass various activities. Several annual events are the February
Valentine's Dinner at which we honor those partners in a commitment. Our
Holiday Party, Anniversary Party, and Annual Meeting are most popular
with wonderful food, entertainment, dancing and the like. In addition, some
months there are other activities such as "A night at the races," a day cruise
on Sea Escape, a picnic, or a potluck dinner. The social committee works very hard
to be innovative and to provide the best in food and entertainment. The monthly
Lunch and Learn is the primary event of the membership and is usually well
attended. Dinners are held in various parts of South Florida to provide variety
and convenience for all the membership in the tri-county area. For information
regarding the events, see our newsletter.

Men's Singles Group:
SAGE Men's Singles Group is a group created for men without partners. One of the
greatest benefits of belonging to SAGE is the opportunity to meet new folks and
establish new friendships. This is especially true for those of us who are
without partners, either because our companion is deceased, the relationship
ended, we haven't met the right one, or we prefer being footloose and
fancy-free. For whatever reason you find yourself without a partner, consider
joining us on the fourth Monday of each month for the Monday Dinner at
Tropics Restaurant. Wear a red shirt. See our newsletter for contact
information.

SAGE Women:
The
women of SAGE enjoy a variety of activities. On the second Wednesday of the month, a potluck lunch is held at a
member’s home or at a local restaurant.
Every Thursday at 1:00 PM at GLCC there is the Coed Discussion group
("Mixed Nuts") — lots of nice
women and men attend. See our newsletter for contact information for these group
meetings.

Bereavement Group:
GLCC & SAGE Bereavement Support Group
The GLCC & SAGE Bereavement Support Group is for Gay,
Lesbian, Bisexual, and Trans-gendered people of all ages, faiths, and cultures –
including their friends and family. Hopefully, by attending this support
group and participating in the discussions that evolve during group exercises,
many will find a new personal perspective and/or insight concerning their Grief
and Loss and the Bereavement Process - and perhaps, even more important,
awareness that life will and does continue.
SAGE is negotiating with a facilitator. Please check back periodically.

Saturday Lunch and Learn:
On the first Saturday of each month an informal
luncheon is provided to all the members of SAGE and their guests. The luncheon
takes place at the Herb Skolnick Community Center.
Click here for Google map and interactive directions. Good quality food is served. At each of these
luncheons, speakers from the Community, County and State are invited to discuss
a wide variety of topics. In the past we have had representatives from the
Senior
Day
Care
Center, Insurance and Health providers, Retirement Planners, HIV/AIDS
information for Seniors, just to name a few. So join us for lunch and stay for
the program. See our newsletter for contact information
and details on this activity.

SAGE Movie Theater Presentations:
The SAGE Movie Theater offers a new movie each
month on the third Monday of each month at the GLCC at 4:00 PM. Anyone interested may
join us for dinner afterwards. See you at the
movies. See our newsletter for details.

Book Bunch:
For those who enjoy a good book, you'll particularly enjoy the monthly Book
Bunch. Usually held each month at Border's Book Store on Sunrise Blvd, the
discussion group meets at 2:00 PM. A variety of books is discussed, and it is
announced in the monthly SAGE newsletter. Occasionally, the book group is
alerted to the Author being in attendance for book signing. New members are
always welcome. See our newsletter for contact
information.

Afternoon
Drop-Ins:
Feel like talking, joking and just hanging out. The afternoon drop-in sessions
are just for you. Each Wednesday (men) and Thursday (Co-Ed) members and
non-members get together for company and conversation. What a great way to spend
a few hours, meet new friends and get interested in our community. Just show up
at the GLCC.
Top
Friendly Visitors:
As needed the Friendly visitors provide service to the community by visiting
shut-ins, those with prolonged and short illnesses, as well as those in hospice
care. What a wonderful way to give to the community and to get much more than
you give! (For information to become a volunteer, call our Message Line.) We
also send appropriate get-well and sympathy cards.

Computer Club:
Are you tired of being upstaged by a young person who knows more than you do
about computers? Do you want to be smarter than a fifth grader when using your
computer? Come and learn how to use your computer more efficiently or to see
what you've been missing. We discuss all aspects of the personal computer. We
discuss Windows XP and Vista as well as Apple OS X operating systems. We start
by discussing a specific topic of interest to the group, which can include
security, email, Internet, using Office programs, etc. We also allocate time to
resolve any issues and answer questions that you may have.
We meet on the second Tuesday of each month from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. We then
go to dinner with those who wish to join us. For information call the SAGE
office at 954-720-0833.
